Overview

Lumira ("we", "us", "our") is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding your personal information.

Data We Collect

We collect information you provide (name, email, skin profile answers), photos you take for skin analysis, and usage data to improve the app. We do not collect biometric identifiers.

How We Use Data

Your data is used solely to provide personalized skincare recommendations, improve AI model accuracy, and deliver app functionality. We never sell your personal data.

Data Sharing

We share data only with trusted service providers who help us operate the app, including cloud infrastructure and analytics providers, and our third-party AI provider (see "Third-Party AI Processing" below), all under strict data processing agreements. We do not sell your data or share it with advertisers or third-party marketers.

Third-Party AI Processing

To analyze your skin and generate recommendations, Lumira sends the photos you capture (skin selfies and product-label photos) together with the profile details you provide — such as your age, gender, ethnicity, skin type, skin concerns, goals, lifestyle answers, and general location — to our third-party AI provider, Anthropic, PBC, which operates the Claude AI models. This information is transmitted to Anthropic’s API solely to produce the analysis and guidance you request. Anthropic processes this data as our service provider, does not use it to train its models, and is contractually required to protect it at a level consistent with this policy. We ask for your permission inside the app before this information is sent to the AI provider, and Lumira’s core features cannot function without it.

European Privacy Rights (GDPR & UK GDPR)

If you are located in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or Switzerland, you have rights under the GDPR and UK GDPR, for which Lumira is the data controller. Our legal bases for processing are: performance of our contract with you (to provide skin analysis and recommendations), your consent (for example, to send your photos and profile to our AI provider, and for marketing), our legitimate interests (securing, analyzing, and improving the service), and compliance with our legal obligations. You have the right to access, correct, erase, restrict, or object to processing of your personal data, to data portability, and to withdraw consent at any time. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection supervisory authority. Because Lumira is operated from the United States, your data may be transferred and processed there; where required we rely on appropriate safeguards such as the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses and the UK International Data Transfer Addendum.

Your Rights

You have the right to access, correct, or delete your data at any time from the app settings. You may also request a full export of your data by contacting us.
